How to Apply

Eligibility & Requirements

Grant applications to the Hersh Foundation are by invitation only.  For new organizations wishing to receive funding,  please mail a one page leter of inquiry with a summary of the grant request and a copy of your 501(c)(3) to:

Letters of inquiry are accepted throughout the year. 

Funding decisions will be made on a quarterly basis.

For invited grant applicants, grant application deadlines are January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1 with decisions made in March, June, September and December.

Grant Funding Restrictions

The following organizations are ineligible for funding from The Hersh Foundation:

  • Other private foundations
  • Individuals or families
  • Faith based organizations or initiatives where the primary purpose is to promote religious doctrine or tenets
  • Political organizations, political candidates, lobbyists or related organizations
  • Fraternal or social groups, athletic teams, bands or similar organizations
  • International organizations that are not qualified under the U.S. IRS regulations
  • Agencies that redistribute grant funds to nonprofits
